Overview
In the position of First Year Electrical Apprentice, the employee will expected to demonstrate a level of interest in the quality of the installations they are involved with, their punctuality in regards to scheduled shifts and break times, as well as the ability to work safely and understand/ carry out the instructions of their immediate supervisor.
A probation period is in effect for the first three months of employment. In addition to the above, the overall attitude towards assigned duties, team members and the trade in general, will play a significant factor in the continued success within our organization. Roles & Responsibilities below are a minimum and in no way limited to the list provided.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Reviewing and understanding company safe work practices and policies.
- Refusal of any unsafe work.
- The safe execution of duties as instructed by your supervisor.
- General housekeeping (unsupervised).
- Material gathering and supply for yourself and journeyman (unsupervised).
- Assist in basic materials install. Such as strapping of conduit, hanging of light fixtures, installing boxes to studs, drilling holes, etc. (low level of supervision).
- Conduit/ Cable Installation (supervised).
- Care and control of finished product/ installation.
- General knowledge of the following Sections of the Canadian Electrical Code: Section 0, 10 & 12.
- Basic electrical device installations (supervised) i.e. duplex receptacles, switches, Data outlets.
